Municipal deputies from the Russian Federation created their own organization in Bonn

Independent municipal deputies of Russia, who are in forced emigration, held a working meeting in Bonn on June 24-25, 2023. At the meeting, it was decided to initiate the creation of a new deputy organization.
The authors of the initiative note in their statement that thanks to the election of independent deputies in the municipalities of Russia in the second half of the 2010s, they have repeatedly found themselves at the center of “big politics”, speaking on the most pressing issues.
The initiators speak of themselves as “practically the only legitimate representatives of citizens who are organized and consistently opposed to the war with Ukraine.”
In the press release issued by the initiative group, it is noted that after February 24, 2022, more than a hundred former and current deputies of local authorities from different regions of Russia were forced to stay abroad.
“Our political experience, understanding of our regions and preserved legitimacy are a unique combination of factors, on the basis of which it is possible to create a workable structure for solving the issues of concern to Russians. It is collective actions that seem to us to be the most correct political response in the conditions of the current crisis,” the press release notes. release
At the meeting in Bonn, it was decided to create an organization that would become the voice of Russian civil society. She, in particular, must participate in the social and political life of Russia and protect the interests of Russian citizens (in particular, abroad). Among other program tasks: interaction with existing parliamentary organizations in Russia, establishing a dialogue with the international community.
By developing the values and skills of local self-government, the initiators of the new civil organization hope to participate in creating the foundations of Russia’s future democratic system.
