The owner of the X social network Elon Musk promised the American journalist Tucker Carlson not to block the video of the interview with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Carlson told about this in the announcing video interview.

Carlson is a former host of the Fox TV channel, who launched an author’s program in H. He arrived in Moscow to talk with Putin in early February. His interview will be the first one-on-one conversation between a Western journalist and Putin after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The journalist’s visit is actively covered by Russian media and bloggers close to the Kremlin. According to Carlson, he himself paid for the trip. “We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin, but because we love the United States,” said the journalist, who explained the interview with the desire to present the audience with all sides of the war in Ukraine. He reported that he submitted a request for an interview with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Carlson’s video does not say whether he has already spoken with Putin. The Kremlin did not comment on the interview. Former editor-in-chief of Echo of Moscow Aleksey Venediktov February 6 hinted in social networks without specifying the source, that the recording has already taken place.

  • After the sale of the Twitter social network, later renamed X, Elon Musk said that he would not block the accounts of Russian state structures. He explained this by protecting freedom of speech.
  • In October 2022, the American political scientist Ian Bremmer said that Elon Musk spoke with Vladimir Putin about the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine. Musk denied this, saying that he did not speak with the Russian president after the full-scale invasion.
