Navalny was assigned “the most severe possible punishment in the colonies”

Oppositionist Aleksey Navalny, who is in a strict regime colony in the Vladimir region, has been placed in a single cell-type room (EPKT) for a period of 12 months. About this reported in Navalny’s twitter.

“A year of EPKT is the strictest possible punishment in colonies of all kinds,” writes Navalny. A single room of the cell type, in fact, is a prison cell on the territory of the colony. The rights of convicts placed in it are even more limited compared to “ordinary” prisoners of the colony.

As Navalny writes, the decision to send him to EPKT was made by the commission on September 26 due to his “incorrigibility” (the exact wording is unknown).

Previously, Navalny was placed in a penal isolation ward (SHIZO) twenty times in less than an hour, as well as in a cell-type room (PCT).

The day before, the First Court of Appeal upheld the sentences of Alexei Navalny and the former technical director of the “Navalny LIVE” channel Daniel Kholodny. In August, the Moscow City Court found Navalny guilty of creating an extremist community, calling for extremism and his financing, and sentenced the oppositionist to 19 years in a special regime colony. It presupposes the most serious degree of isolation: a convicted person is allowed only two short and one long meeting, one parcel and one parcel per hour. After the sentence enters into force, Navalny must be sent to a special regime colony, of which there are only a few in the country. There are prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, as well as dangerous recidivists (Navalny was recognized as such). He himself does not admit guilt, numerous human rights organizations recognized him as a political prisoner.
