Navalny was given 1 day to read 700 sheets of the criminal case

Politician Alexei Navalny, who is in a high-security prison, was given only one day to familiarize himself with the new criminal case against him. At the same time, the volume of materials on the case, which he must read, is about 700 pages – said the director of the Anti-corruption Fund, Ivan Zhdanov.

According to Zhdanov, there is no time for familiarization with the documents in the daily schedule of the colony. At the same time, a convicted politician must work 8 hours a day.

Earlier FBK announced that a new trial will soon begin against Alexei Navalny. The Basmanny Court of Moscow will begin hearing the case on April 26. According to the estimates of Navalny’s associate Leonid Volkov, the oppositionist’s prison term can be significantly extended.

• One of the leaders of the Russian opposition, Alexey Navalny, has been in prison since February 2021. Since then, he has repeatedly complained about the conditions of detention in the colony, which his lawyers and associates call “torture.” The oppositionist, in particular, claimed that he was being asked about insomnia, was not provided with medical care, was deliberately placed in his cell with prisoners suffering from various diseases and who did not follow personal hygiene, and was also not allowed to communicate with defenders and relatives.
• On April 11, Navalny was sent to the SIZO for the 13th time. The reason was not given. Before that, the reasons for the transfer of the politician to the SHIZO were, among others, an unbuttoned button and refusal to wash the fence.
