. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, who is trying to “pull representatives of the terrorist state into world sports”, to Bakhmut, reports .
“…I invite Mistress Bach to Bakhmut. So that he can see with his own eyes that neutrality does not exist,” Zelensky noted in his evening address to Ukrainians.
Earlier, Zelensky criticized the initiatives of the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and emphasized that “any neutral flag of Russian athletes is stained with blood.”
He also reminded that “Ukrainian athletes are forced to protect the lives of their loved ones and the freedom of our people from Russian aggression. Russian strikes took the lives of hundreds of Ukrainian men and women who could enrich world sports with their talent. Russia must stop aggression and terror, and only then can we talk about Russian participation in the context of the Olympic movement. Olympic principles and war are fundamentally opposed to each other.”
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee published a statement suggesting that Russians and Belarusians will be able to compete at the Olympics in Paris under a neutral flag.
