“New people” will not appoint observers for the presidential elections

The “New People” party will not appoint observers for the Russian presidential election. This is stated in the screenshot of the letter posted by Stanislav Andreychuk, co-chairman of the movement for the protection of voters’ rights “Holos”.

“New People” justified its decision by the fact that, like 16 other parties, they concluded an agreement on cooperation in monitoring the elections with the Public Chamber of Russia. This presupposes joint training of observers, the letter said.

In addition, “Novye Lyudi” reported that they will transfer the data of observers who registered through the party’s website to the Public Chamber. Parties must be informed of their disagreement in writing, and then the information will not be passed on.

According to Andreychuk, the refusal of party supervision will have a bad effect on the image of Vladyslav Davankov, the candidate from the New People’s Party, “if he wants to win at least part of Nadezhdin’s electorate in these elections.”

Borys Nadezhdyn, the only anti-war candidate, was not allowed by the CEC to participate in the elections due to a lack of signatures. Nadezhdin challenges the refusal in court.

  • Voting in the presidential elections of Russia will take place from March 15 to 17, 2024. Elections in Russia are assessed by independent observers and experts as not free and dishonest. The authorities intervene in the election process, create advantages for pro-power candidates, and in some cases there are direct falsifications.
