Oil service company SLB is not going to leave Russia

The world’s largest oil service company SLB does not plan to leave the Russian Federation, unlike its two biggest competitors, Baker Hughes and Halliburton, which sold their assets in Russia.

“When we decide, we will make it public if necessary. But there is no decision yet,” Le Peche said when asked about the company’s plans to wind down its Russian operations.
SLB, formerly Schlumberger, is said to be resisting pressure to pull out of Russia from the Ukrainian government and rights groups, which say the company’s presence in the country helps generate oil revenues used to support Putin’s military operations.
“The team there is working autonomously… . We protect our assets, that’s our priority. We protect our people,” SLB’s executive director said in an interview.
It added that last year the National Security Agency listed SLB as an “international war sponsor” as part of a global campaign to expose companies that do business with Russia.
In a statement, SLB said it strongly denies any claims that it “in any way condoned or supported violence against the people of Ukraine.”
Le Peche said SLB had put in place controls “to prevent and prohibit any supply and support of technology” to Russia since July, a move he believed would in the long term impair the country’s ability to develop some of its offshore oil fields.
