On December 22, new modern trams of domestic production “Tatra-Yug” entered service on the left bank of the capital, at the same time, instead of 12 trams, now only 7 will run along the route.

This follows from message Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klychka.

New trams are running on route N8 “Lisova” metro station – “Poznyaki” metro station.

Previously, there were 12 trams, most of which were single carriages of old models. With a movement interval of a maximum of 10 minutes, they transported about 700 passengers per hour on the route.

Now 7 three-section low-floor trams operate on route No. 8 with an interval of 15 minutes.

As Klitschko explained, the number of trams was reduced, as the passenger capacity of the new tram is almost 2.5 times larger than the single tram. It will carry more than 1,000 passengers per hour.

It is reported that the trams were purchased as part of the implementation of the “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” project, which is financed with funds from the European Investment Bank.
