Six residents of St. Petersburg, who were previously arrested for several days for laying flowers at the natural memorial to Alexei Navalny, were issued summonses to the military enlistment office upon leaving the detention center.

Summonses were also handed to four citizens who are not registered in St. Petersburg, but came to the city to honor the memory of the deceased politician.

In total, almost two hundred people were sentenced for laying flowers at the Navalny memorial in St. Petersburg, and the vast majority of them were arrested for a period of one to fourteen days. In the protocols, the police mostly wrote that the detainees “blocked the way for random passers-by.”

  • After the announcement of the death of Alexei Navalny, people in dozens of Russian cities began to lay flowers at spontaneous memorials, often at city monuments dedicated to victims of political repression. According to the human rights project “OVD-Info”, the police detained more than 350 people who wanted to honor the memory of the opposition politician.
