Poisoning with “Mister cider” was recorded in the Kurgan region

The first case of poisoning with the low-alcohol drink “Mister Sidr” was recorded in the Kurgan region. According to the Kurgan Investigative Committee, a local resident was hospitalized. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on the sale of products that do not meet safety requirements.
Investigative authorities massively seize the drink from stores. Now 17,000 liters of “Mister Cider” have been seized in the Kurgan region as part of the investigation.
In the Ulyanovsk region, where the first and most massive cases of poisoning occurred, on June 7, 62 cases of hospitalization of drinkers were recorded. 20 people died there, the rest are in hospitals in serious condition. 9 people died in the Samara region, 16 were hospitalized. Two died in the Nizhny Novgorod region, one in Chuvashia. There are also victims in the Penza region. A total of 30 people have died from poisoning with cider of this brand in Russia in recent days.
On June 6, the court arrested Anar Huseynov, the founder of the cider-making company “Andy” for two months. Earlier, he was brought to administrative responsibility for the turnover of ethyl alcohol without supporting documents. The entrepreneur’s defense stated that the supplier of alcohol-containing products from which the cider was made was also detained.
Experts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs found in the composition of the drink impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate in proportions that pose a threat to health. Deputy of the State Duma, member of the committee on security and anti-corruption, Sultan Khamzaev called for full transfer of the production of methyl alcohol to the state and stricter control over its use.
