Political tricks appeared in Russian state bodies

Politicians began to appear in Russian state bodies – deputy heads of social and political work. This was found out by Medusa and Important Histories for the Kremlin Leaks project.

Among the documents leaked from the administration of the President of Russia, journalists discovered Vladimir Putin’s decree, according to which the position of deputy head of social and political work is officially introduced in federal state bodies. The decree was signed in February 2023 and has the stamp “for official use”.

An interlocutor of journalists participating in government meetings confirmed that political operatives have already started their work in several departments. According to him, they tell the officials that they “must talk” about the war and domestic politics.

Sources published in the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, and the field hunting service reported that they do not have police officers yet. On the Rosnedr website, journalists found recommendations “on organizing and conducting public and political work.” According to the document, the department will conduct a complex of “educational events” with officials to “strengthen their patriotism.”

In the course of such discussions, Rosnedr employees must “promptly inform” about the military and political situation in the country and in the world, as well as educate about the history of Russia, the stages of its international policy and the formation of Russian statehood.

“Kommersant” wrote back in April 2022 about the government’s plans to restore the Soviet Institute of Political Workers. Among the reasons were called “problems with loyalty to the current course of power”, which arose in the departments even before the attack on Ukraine.
