Politician Alexei Navalny, who is serving time in a penal colony in the Vladimir region, was sent to a penal institution for the 18th time. About this informs ego press secretary Kira Yarmysh.

“Alexey was placed in the SHIZO again immediately after the sentence (before that, he was also kept there, he was released just before the sentence). For 14 days. This is the 18th time. This means that he will spend a total of 207 days there.” Yarmysh wrote on Twitter.

The penitentiary is distinguished by particularly harsh conditions of detention. Navalny described it as a cell measuring two by three meters, where he has to sit on an iron stool.

  • On August 4, the Moscow City Court sentenced Navalny to 19 years of special regime in the case of creating an extremist community and several other charges. The Russian authorities consider the Naval Foundation to Fight Corruption and the regional headquarters of the politician’s supporters to be an extremist community.
  • The special regime means that the politician will be held in the most strict conditions, similar to those imposed on those sentenced to life imprisonment.
