The reason for initiating the case was a message from one of the listeners of Evych’s lecture in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The lecture was held for employees of the Russian Guard, one of whom saw in the speaker’s words a negative assessment of the situation at the front. Evych mentioned the lack of supplies of Russian troops in Ukraine, including medicines.
Yury Evych is a prominent propagandist of Russia’s war in Ukraine. He fought in Ukraine as part of the so-called “DPR” militia. In February 2023, Evych became a laureate of the “Man Z” award. At the presentation of the award, he said that in power in Ukraine and the countries that support it are “Satanists, whose goal is to destroy our people and our faith” and called “to bury in our land all who came to it, and in the ruins of their capitals to sign an unconditional surrender.” .
On his VKontakte page, Evych publishes video appeals made against the background of the banner “For faith, the tsar and the holy united Russia”, under which pro-Russian separatists in Donbas began to speak in 2014.
Other pro-Kremlin authors stood up for Yury Evych. Pro-war publicist Roman Skomorokhov said that the denunciation of Evych was the fault of the “branched system of Western agent networks”, and Kyiv benefits from such denunciations.
The governor of the Kaluga region, Vladyslav Shapsha, disagrees with him. He believes that Evych’s criticism can be justified and should be taken into account.
According to the article on the discrediting of the actions of the Russian army, Yury Evych may face a fine of up to 50,000 rubles. The court session in his case will be held on April 18.
