Putin announced plans to build a high-speed Moscow-Donetsk highway

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to build a high-speed railway from Moscow to Donetsk and Luhansk, which are occupied by Russian troops. According to him, he has already discussed this idea with the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and the chairman of the board of “Sberbank” Herman Gref.

“The banks will certainly join this work. They see good economic and financial prospects here. I am sure that everything will work out,” said Putin, who also supported the idea of ​​building high-speed highways from Moscow to St. Petersburg and Adler, and he also promised to discuss with the authorities of Belarus the issue of building such a highway from Moscow to Minsk.

In October 2022, the President of Russia signed laws on the annexation of four Ukrainian regions – including Donetsk and Luhansk. No one in the world recognized the annexation except North Korea. According to the documents signed by Putin, Russia has included four regions of Ukraine within their administrative borders – at the same time, it still does not control a significant part of these regions, and the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk, to which Putin wants to extend a high-speed highway, are actually in the combat zone actions and are regularly subjected to shelling, as a result of which not only military personnel but also civilians die.

In February of this year, the Russian-appointed authorities of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” announced that 4,438 civilians had died in less than a year of full-scale war on the territory of the region. Independently, this information cannot be verified.
