Ramzan Kadyrov awarded himself the title of Hero of the Chechen Republic
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, received the title of Hero of the Chechen Republic. The medal was presented by the Chairman of the Republican Parliament Magomed Daudov. He noted that Kadyrov was the first in the region to receive this title and added that his merits to the Chechen Republic and the Russian Federation “deserve a special study.”
The Medal of the Hero of the Chechen Republic was established in October 2022 on the instructions of Kadyrov himself. In his Telegram channel, the regional leader wrote that they are rewarding those who plan to fight in Ukraine and come from Chechnya. The medal consists of an eight-pointed star, it is made of 70 grams of 750 gold.
The Sota publication notes that, according to the rank provision, the award decision is made by the head of Chechnya. Thus, Kadyrov awarded himself the first of all Chechens. The Russian mass media preferred the wording “awarded the title”.
In mid-February, the head of Chechnya received the title of “Father of the Nation” by making appropriate amendments to the Constitution of the republic.

Since then, he has been repeatedly accused of violating human rights in the republic and abroad, blaming the politician for the kidnapping and murder of his critics. The head of Chechnya has been sanctioned by the EU, the USA and other countries. After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kadyrov became one of the main propagandists of the war, the head of the region regularly reports on sending mercenaries to the front, threatens President Volodymyr Zelensky. In addition, he allowed the use of nuclear weapons by Russia.
- In total, Ramzan Kadyrov has more than three dozen official government awards, including the medal “For military valor” II degree (2000), “For services to the Fatherland” IV and III degrees (2006 and 2021). In 2006, he received the title of Hero of Russia, and in 2020, Putin awarded Kadyrov the title of Major General of the Russian Guard. In addition, he has the honorary titles “Honored worker of physical culture of the Chechen Republic” and “Honored builder of the Chechen Republic”.
