The prosecutor’s office of Vladimir appealed to the court with a request to block YouTube on the territory of Russia. The lawsuit was filed in the Leninsky district court of the city of Vladimir, writes the publication “Dovod”.
In the same lawsuit, the prosecutor’s office demands that two sites for the sale of meters and a page with tips on how to pay less for electricity be banned.
The press service of the prosecutor’s office of the region told the TASS agency that the purpose of the lawsuit is not to block the entire YouTube video hosting, but only certain information posted there. At the same time, the domain of all video hosting is indicated in the claim card on the court’s website.
As “Dovod” notes, in August of last year, the Leninsky District Court of the city of Vladimir made a decision to block one of the sections of “Wikipedia” because the information posted there “insults the president.”
- After the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian authorities repeatedly demanded that YouTube censor materials that, in their opinion, are considered unreliable or anti-Russian.
- Over the past hour, the Russian authorities have blocked social networks Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. A number of Russian and foreign mass media were also blocked, including Radio Liberty, “Nastoyashe Vremya”, Krym.Realii, “Voice of America”, New Times, “Taiga.info”, DOXA, “Echo of Moscow”, “Dozhd”, “Meduza” “, Russian service BBC, Deutsche Welle and others.
