Residents of the city of Votkinsk in Udmurtia reported a powerful explosion near the city on Wednesday evening. They posted their videos on local channels in social networks, on which the high flames that arose after the explosion are visible.
Further, some telegram channels reported that the explosion was caused by technical work at the Votkin Machine-Building Plant. The authors of these channels refer to the regional service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In the official channel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Udmurtia at the time of publication of the news, there was no such explanation.
Telegram channel “Baza” writes with reference to the source that the cause of the explosion was some tests at the Votkin plant.

The Votkinsky plant is located 50 kilometers from the capital of Udmurtia, Izhevsk. It produces artillery missiles, including strategic ballistic missiles for the Topol-M and Iskander complexes. At the end of 2023, the Votkinsky plant published 19 state contracts for the production of nuclear weapons components. There is a test site at the plant.
