The “DNR” court sentenced 33 Ukrainian prisoners to long terms
The Supreme Court of the so-called “DPR” sentenced 33 Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy and the 17th Tank Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to imprisonment for 27 to 29 years in a strict regime colony.
According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, they were accused of brutal treatment of the civilian population, murder motivated by hatred and enmity, attempted murder of two or more persons, and also intentional damage to someone else’s property in a generally dangerous manner.
According to the indictment, at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the military fired on residential buildings in the villages of Sartana, Sakhanka, Talakovka, and Stary Krym in the Donetsk region. As a result of the shelling, one person died and another was injured, 42 houses and two cars were damaged.
The Investigative Committee named some of the convicted Ukrainian servicemen: Roman Shostak, Vladimir Torshin, Denys Nazarov, Artem Shvydkoi, Alexander Oleynyk, Alexander Plotnikov, Yuryk Akimov, Sergey Paliychuk, Sergey Dovgalyuk, Mikhail Izotov and Yevgeny Poptsov.
