In Moscow, unknown people threw a severed pig’s head at the door of the apartment where the columnist of the state news agency RIA Novosti Timofey Sergeytsev lives. This was reported to RIA by the press service of the second state media corporation – Rossiya Segodnya. As specified by the law enforcement agencies, Sergeytsev found the pig’s head in a black bag under his door on September 26. The police seized it and began an investigation.

Earlier, on September 19, the author of RIA “Novosti” Konstantin Sivkov found the same head in a package under the door of another. Both Sivkov and Sergeytsev also complain that they regularly receive threats from unknown persons who demand that they renounce their pro-Kremlin statements.

Political technologist and publicist Sergeytsev is known for calling for harsh repression against Ukrainians who are not ready to support the Kremlin’s policy. In the article “What Russia should do with Ukraine” he demands, after Russia’s hypothetical victory, the punishment and “re-education” of Ukrainian opponents of Russian aggression within the framework of “denazification and de-Ukrainization”, the introduction of strict censorship in the sphere of culture and education, and the renaming of the country itself. Sergeytsev calls “Ukrainism” an “artificial anti-Russian construct.” He proposes to “liquidate” the current leadership of Ukraine, as its re-education is impossible.

Sergeytsev’s article sparked a wide discussion. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called it proof of plans for the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Timofey Sergeytsev is on the sanctions lists of the European Union, Great Britain, Canada, Switzerland and Ukraine.
