Russia bought spare parts for Boeing and Airbus for the sum of 18 billion rubles

From February 2022 to March 2023, Russia purchased original spare parts for Boeing and Airbus aircraft for a total of 18 billion rubles, the publication “Vazhney istorii” found out. Purchases were made despite the sanctions introduced due to the invasion of Ukraine.

150 companies from 26 countries participated in the deliveries. At the same time, only intermediaries from the UAE are responsible for purchases totaling 9 billion rubles. Also in the top three are companies from China (5 billion) and Turkey (2 billion).

Purchases were also made in such countries as the USA, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic and Lithuania. The Russian authorities call them “hostile”, official trade relations with them are minimized or terminated. Deliveries are carried out according to the so-called parallel import scheme.

It is also noted that many supplier companies are owned by Russians.

One of the main buyers, according to “Important Histories”, was the Moscow company “Protektor”, which resold parts to Russian air carriers in the amount of 2 billion rubles.

• Sanctions introduced against the Russian aviation industry after the large-scale invasion of Ukraine include a ban on the supply of aircraft to Russia, as well as a ban on flights of Russian aircraft to countries that have imposed sanctions. Insurance certificates were also revoked, and the planes that were leased were required to be returned by Russian airlines, which they did not do. Against the backdrop of a shortage of spare parts, incidents involving aircraft of Russian airlines have become more frequent.
