Russian authorities in the occupied part of the Kherson region quarantined the city of Golaya Prystan, which was seriously affected by flooding caused by the breach of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam. This was reported to “Meduza” and “Agentstv” by volunteers who are trying to provide assistance to residents of the affected areas.
According to the volunteers, the city was closed for entry and exit. Because of this, it is impossible to deliver humanitarian aid to the residents who remain there.
According to “Agentstvo” with reference to volunteers, on June 10, according to local residents, the military traveled through the flooded city, they warned through the loudspeaker that on June 11 Golaya Prystan would be closed for quarantine. The interlocutor of “Meduza” confirmed this information. Volunteers fear that this measure is associated with a large number of victims. Officially, the Russian authorities reported eight deaths on the left bank of the Dnieper under Russian control.
At the same time, according to volunteers, hundreds of people are missing – they lived in flooded areas and cannot be contacted.
The Ukrainian authorities are organizing the evacuation of people from the left bank to the right bank controlled by Ukraine, but it is fraught with risks. Three people were killed on Sunday during the Russian shelling of a boat with evacuees – authorities of the Kherson region claim.
The dam broke on June 6. Ukraine accuses Russia of deliberately undermining it.
