Russia has simplified the procedure for issuing visas for citizens of North Korea and Iran

The Russian government has simplified the procedure for obtaining visas for citizens of North Korea, Iran and a number of other states, most of which are located in Asia. Now they will be able to receive entry documents immediately for six months on the basis of a hotel reservation or “other means of accommodation”.

In total, the government order concerns nineteen countries. In addition to North Korea and Iran, these are China, India, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, Mexico, Serbia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bahrain, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Oman.

  • In March 2022, the Russian authorities actually divided the countries of the world into “friendly” and “unfriendly”. Then, by order of Vladimir Putin, the Russian government approved a list of states that, according to the authorities, commit “unfriendly actions” against Russia and its citizens. At the moment, this list includes 60 countries, including the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, as well as dozens of European Union states.
