The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany advised its citizens not to travel to Russia

[ad_1]

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany issued a recommendation advising its citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia. In particular, this applies to the coming days, from February 20 to 26, when a number of official events will be held in Russia, in connection with which security measures will be strengthened. Germans who are already in Russia are advised to exercise caution and avoid crowds.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs separately states that the Russian authorities consider holders of two citizenships – Germany and Russia – exclusively as citizens of Russia. In case of conflicting situations, for example, concerning conscription, Germany will not be able to provide consular assistance to such people.

The German Foreign Ministry especially warns against traveling to Russian regions close to the border with Ukraine – Rostov, Krasnodar, Saratov, Voronezh and Volgograd, and other border regions.

  • On February 13, the US Embassy in Moscow recommended that US citizens living or staying in Russia leave the country. Last year, the US embassy twice called on Americans to “immediately leave Russia” – the first time on February 28, a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and then on September 28, shortly after the announcement of mobilization.
  • At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia issued a similar appeal to its citizens. On September 26, 2022, a recommendation not to visit Russia, and for those who are already there to leave as soon as possible, appeared on the website of the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow, and on September 28, the Romanian embassy announced the same.
