Russia struck the ports on the Danube with “Shakheda”.

On the night of August 16, the Russian army carried out an attack on the port infrastructure in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine. “Shakhed” drones were used for the strikes, 13 of them were shot down – reported the command of the Air Force of Ukraine. How many drones were released in total is not reported.

Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said that the port infrastructure in the south of the region had been hit, and warehouses and granaries were damaged in one of the ports on the Danube. According to available data, people were not injured. Kiper published a photo of the aftermath of the strikes.

In particular, the ports of Izmail and Rena are located on the Danube. After Russia’s withdrawal from the so-called grain deal in mid-July, the Russian military regularly strikes ports in the Odessa region, both on the Black Sea and on the Danube. On the night of August 2, as reported, port and industrial infrastructure facilities were destroyed in Izmail, and fires broke out. The elevator, grain hangars, tanks of one of the cargo terminals, production, storage and administrative premises, as well as the building of the sea station were damaged.

• The grain deal, according to which food is exported from Black Sea ports blocked by Russia, was concluded in July last year with the assistance of Turkey and the UN. The agreement was extended several times. The last time was May 17.
• Russia claims that the part of the transaction concerning the export of Russian food and fertilizer was not implemented. Moscow emphasizes that it is ready to return to the agreement as soon as all its interests are taken into account.
• The Russian military has declared that they can consider ships going to Ukrainian ports as potential military targets. On August 13, it was reported that a Russian patrol ship fired a warning shot on Sunday morning, demanding that the Palau-flagged dry cargo ship “Syukru Okan”, which was heading to the port of Izmail, stop moving. The Russian military boarded the ship to inspect the cargo. The authorities of Ukraine, commenting on the incident, called the actions of the Russian side “an open disregard for the rights of the Black Sea states to free navigation and the peaceful passage of their vessels through the territorial sea of ​​coastal countries.” Kyiv called on the international community to respond to the situation.
