Russian mountaineering champion Nadezhda Olenyova died in Nepal while climbing to the top of the Dhaulagiri mountain range. Pavel Shabalyn, head coach of the Russian national team, told TASS about this.
Olenyova fell into a crevasse at an altitude of about 6,680 meters. Now the issue of extracting the body from the abyss is being resolved. Russian Ambassador to Nepal Alexey Novikov said that on October 16, a rescue team may be sent to the area of the tragedy. Helicopter landing in these places is impossible.
Nadezhda Olenyova was 37 years old. She was a master of sports in mountaineering, a member of the Russian national team, the silver medalist of the Russian championship in the rock class in 2020 and the bronze medalist in the high-tech class in 2019. She was a co-founder and leader of the Perm School of Mountaineering club.
