Russian troops probably occupied part of the village of Veseloye near Bakhmut

Russian troops apparently occupied most of the settlement of Veseloye to the northeast of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Analysts of the Ukrainian DeepState project came to these conclusions. They note that over the past day, Russian troops tried to attack several areas of the front at once, including the Svatovsky direction in the Luhansk region and near Avdeevka.
The day before, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced the capture of Vesyoly. Prior to that, the last time the Russian military department announced the capture of Maryinka was about a month ago.
Veseloye is a small settlement, however, the possible development of success in this direction may threaten the Ukrainian position in the city of Seversk.
In the morning summary of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it is said about the strengthening of Russian attacks in the Luhansk region. At the same time, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, said that the Russian army is persistently conducting an active offensive in the Kupyan direction – this is the Kharkiv region. According to his information, the main forces of the Russian army are concentrated on capturing Sinkovka, which the Russian commanders are storming, regardless of losses. Synkovka is considered the “key” to the part of the city of Kupyansk, located east of the Oskol River.
Russian pro-military telegram channels announce the advance of Russian troops also near Avdeevka, which they have been storming for almost 2 years. The last assault began in October last year. DeepState notes a “serious” situation for the Ukrainian military south of Avdeevka. The American Institute for the Study of War confirms the advance of the Russians to the southwest of the city. At the same time, the institute, based on open sources, notes that in the last three days near Avdeevka, Russian troops probably lost more than 40 units of armored vehicles.
On the night of January 19, there were no reports of Russian attacks on the rear regions of Ukraine – which is quite rare. Front-line areas are subjected to artillery shelling, reported in particular in Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
