Russian TV channels were banned from covering the drone attack on Moscow. This was reported by The Insider, which spoke to employees of VGTRK, RBC and several regional TV channels. They reported that the ban came 15 minutes before the 11 o’clock news. At the same time, there were still stories about drones in the 10-hour episode.
After 11 o’clock in the morning, the topic of drones in Moscow came down to brief comments by the Ministry of Defense and the capital’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin.
“They had to urgently change the layout literally 15 minutes before the broadcast, remove all footage with eyewitnesses and consequences, even general street plans. And they finish the time with everything they can: some international stories that would not even be accepted. The topic was removed from “Russia 24” and “Moscow 24”, – one of the interlocutors told The Insider. TV channels “Russia 24” and “Moscow 24” belong to VGTRK holding. Regional channels, according to sources, asked not to emphasize this topic on air.
At the same time, it was not forbidden to show stories about the drone attack on Crimea, including showing footage from there. That is why many channels started their programs with a story about it.
- Two drones attacked Moscow on Monday morning. One of the drones fell in the area of Komsomolskogo Prospekt close to the city center. Not far from this place on Frunzenskaya embankment is the building of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The second hit the building of the business center on Lykhachev Avenue. There were no serious injuries or casualties.
- The Ministry of Defense of Russia has accused Ukraine of the attack by Besylotniks on Moscow. The department claims that two Ukrainian drones were suppressed by means of electronic warfare and destroyed. The Ukrainian military did not comment on the drone strike on Moscow.
