Sky News published a contract for the supply of weapons from Iran to Russia

The British television company Sky News claims that it has obtained a contract for the supply of weapons from Iran to Russia.

TV channel published a document that was allegedly given to him by a source in the British defense sector. According to Sky News, the British special services are convinced that “the document is 100% authentic.” If this is so, it is the first documentary confirmation of the supply of weapons from Iran to Russia after the start of the large-scale war in Ukraine. Tehran and Moscow have not yet commented on the publication, which was brought to the attention of the “Agency” publication.

The 16-page document, dated September 14 last year, refers to the supply of weapons worth a little more than 1 million dollars. We are talking about artillery and tank shells, as well as rockets. Part of the second document on 5 pages was also published – it is about the supply of components for T-72 tanks and barrels for howitzers, as well as shells. The cost of this transaction is about 740 thousand dollars.

Sky sources claim that these are samples of weapons before further, larger deliveries.

The documents state that the contracts were concluded between the Ministry of Defense and Material Support of the Armed Forces of Iran and Rosoboronexport. They are written in English, the price is in dollars. Sky’s interlocutor in the defense sphere said that this is a common practice for contracts that Iran concludes with other countries.

It is confirmed that Sky journalists showed these documents to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and British Foreign Minister James Cleverly during the Ukrainian Prime Minister’s visit to London in early May. Officially, neither London nor Kyiv have yet commented on these documents.

At the end of May, Ukraine imposed sanctions against Iran in connection with Tehran’s alleged supply of arms to Moscow.

Earlier, the USA, other Western countries and Ukraine accused Iran of supplying Russia with Shahed attack drones, which are actively used in the war against Ukraine. The Russian authorities officially denied this, although the mass media and pro-war bloggers do not hide the fact that the Geran-2 drones are actually Iranian Shaheds. Tehran claimed that drones were supplied to Russia before the start of a large-scale war.
