The mother of Chechen activists Zarem Musaeva was taken to the hospital from the pre-trial detention center

Accused of fraud and an attack on a police officer in Chechnya, Zarem Musaeva was hospitalized. Earlier, the judge denied the mother of the Chechen activists Abubakar, Ibrahim and Baisangur Yangulbaev from conducting an examination of her health.

Abubakar Yangulbaev reported that Musaeva is in the hospital. He recalled that his mother’s health had deteriorated in the pretrial detention center for almost a year and a half. In addition to type 2 diabetes, which, according to her son, requires constant monitoring and treatment, her vision has worsened, and her back pain is progressing. Musaeva cannot go out for walks, but is transported in a wheelchair, she is given heavy trials, wrote Abubakar Yangulbaev.

It is not specified in which hospital Musaeva ended up.

In an interview with the website Kavkaz.Realii, the head of the North Caucasus Department of the “Command Against Torture”, Ekaterina Vanslova, recalled that Musaeva’s defense had previously asked the court to send her to a hospital for routine examinations. The human rights defender did not rule out that Musaeva was sent to the hospital for examination before the arguments in court, which are scheduled for June 15.

Earlier, Musaeva’s defense demanded an examination of her health in order to resolve the issue of hospitalization, as she began to lose consciousness during acute hypertensive crises. The court refused this, the formal reason is that the lawyers did not provide documents that confirm the need for treatment in a hospital.

During the detention, she lost consciousness, they did not allow her to dress, put on shoes and take insulin, which she constantly needs due to diabetes.
• At first, Musaeva was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest on the charge of insulting a policeman, and then a criminal case was opened against her – she allegedly attacked the precinct officer who was compiling the report and, according to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, “almost left his eye.” Musaeva was later charged with fraud.
