In St. Petersburg, the police detained suspects in setting fire to the apartment door of pro-Kremlin media blogger and Sputnik radio host Trofim Tatarenkov. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk.

According to “Fontanka”, these are three young people from Kolpino. They are 18, 19 and 20 years old. They were paid for the arson, the publication claims.

As Tatarenkov wrote in his Telegram channel, the incident occurred on the evening of January 7. “Some people covered the door of the apartment where I live with tires, added boards and threw a bottle with incendiary mixture,” he clarified. There were no people in the apartment at that moment, no one was injured. Tatarenkov turned to the police. He believes that the special services of Ukraine, dissatisfied with his activities, may be behind the arson.

Trofym Tatarenkov is a St. Petersburg businessman and business consultant. He created the popular YouTube channel “Isolenta”, whose guests included such media figures as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova and the director Tigran Keosayan. Now Tatarenkov works as a presenter on Radio Sputnik, part of the state media group “Russia Today”. He supports the Kremlin’s policy and military aggression in Ukraine.

This is not the first case of arson in St. Petersburg at the doors of apartments belonging to employees of pro-government mass media. In December, the apartments of pro-Kremlin blogger Roman Saponkov and Komsomolskaya Pravda correspondent Dmytro Steshin were damaged. Their doors were filled with mounting foam. Two teenagers were detained on suspicion of hooliganism.

In September last year, pigs’ heads were thrown at the doors of the apartments of several pro-Kremlin publicists in Moscow.
