Telegram has restricted access to the official channel of the radical Hamas group. This is reported by TASS.

“Access to some of the channels to which you are subscribed may be limited in your version of Telegram in accordance with the rules of Google Play,” says the message sent to users of the application for the Android system. Access was also limited for Apple users, writes RIA Novosti.

When trying to access the Hamas Telegram channel, a notification appears: “Access to this channel is restricted.”

As noted by TASS, the channel of the combat wing of Hamas – “Al-Qassam Brigade” was also blocked. At the same time, the channel of the official representative of the Izzat ar-Rishka movement is still available. The channels of Hamas allies – “Islamic Jihad” and “Hezbollah” – were also not blocked.

On October 13, the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, wrote that closing the Hamas channel could worsen the situation with information about what is happening in the war zone.

“Before the rocket attacks on Ashkelon, Hamas used Telegram to warn civilians that they needed to leave the area. Will closing this channel help save people’s lives or put them at risk?” Durov wrote.

The day before, it became known that the Google company will not show real-time information about congestion on the roads of Israel and the Gaza Strip in its Google Maps and Waze applications. According to a Bloomberg source, this was done at the request of the Israeli military ahead of a possible ground operation in the Gaza Strip. A similar decision was made at Apple, the agency writes.

Google claims that drivers using navigation systems will continue to receive estimated arrival times based on real conditions.
