The activist acquitted by the jury was sentenced to 19.5 years in prison

In the Moscow City Court, the prosecution requested 19 and a half years of imprisonment for the activist Vitaly Koltsov, who threw “Molotov cocktails” at car parks in the center of Moscow.
Previously, Koltsov was partially acquitted by the jury. On June 7, the collegium refused to find him guilty of attempted murder of policemen, but agreed with the charge of intentional arson.
On May 2, 2022, Vitaly Koltsov threw “Molotov cocktails” into a car park on Revolution Square in Moscow. A bottle bounced off one bus, the second one still caught fire, but the fire was quickly extinguished. Koltsov was accused of attempted murder of 12 riot police officers. He himself declares that he did not plan to kill anyone, but only set the hotel on symbolic fire as a sign of protest, assuming that the car would be quickly extinguished. The prosecution insists that Koltsov’s goal was an attempted murder.
Koltsov’s sentence will be handed down after the next stage of the trial – the parties’ decision.
