The activist from Tver was sentenced to six years in a strict regime colony

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Ivan Kudryashov, an activist from Tver, to six years in a high-security prison in connection with the preparation of the arson of the military enlistment office. This was reported by the Sotavision Telegram channel.

According to the court’s decision, Kudryashov will spend two years and six months in prison, the rest of the term in a colony. The audience and the press were forbidden to film the announcement of the verdict.

Earlier, Kudryashov announced a hunger strike in the pre-trial detention center. He was not provided with vegan food and was not given parcels with vitamins, vegetable protein and books.

According to the investigation, Kudryashov was going to set fire to the military enlistment office as a sign of protest against mobilization. He was arrested on September 30 last year. According to Kudryashov, he signed the confession under torture, and bottles with incendiary mixture were thrown at him during his detention. The Investigative Committee of the Tver region refused to open a criminal case about torture.

Before his arrest, Kudryashov organized protests against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

• After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, military enlistment offices, police departments, city administration buildings, and “United Russia” receptions began to be set on fire all over Russia. After the announcement of mobilization, the number of such attacks increased many times. At the moment, it is known about almost a hundred requests for arson.
• As a result of the fires, no one was killed or injured. At first, cases were considered under the criminal articles of damage to someone else’s property and hooliganism. Later, the General Staff of Russia announced that cases of arson of military enlistment centers would be considered acts of terrorism and would be punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The first sentence, in which the arson of the military enlistment office was qualified as a terrorist act, was handed down at the end of January 2023.
