A court in Ukraine arrested the assets of three major Russian businessmen – Petro Aven, Mikhail Fridman and Andrey Kosogov. As reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, the total value of the seized property is more than 17 billion hryvnias (about 460 million dollars).

The court’s decision concerns 20 companies and financial and credit institutions, which entrepreneurs own as ultimate beneficiaries or through controlled offshore companies. Among the blocked assets are financial and insurance companies, mobile communications and IT companies, as well as mineral water plants.

The SBU believes that Aven, Fridman and Kosogov are part of the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin and are involved in large-scale financing schemes for Russia’s armed aggression. “The arrest of their property will not allow the Russian owners to transfer it to dummy persons in order to avoid the further transfer of assets to the income of Ukraine,” the special service clarified.

  • All three businessmen are the founders of the financial and investment consortium “Alfa Group”. In 2022, the Ukrainian company “Alfa Bank” was renamed Sense Bank and in July 2023 it was nationalized.
