The cancellation of “vyzaran” in Kyrgyzstan also extends to Russians

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan confirmed on Thursday that the tightening of the rules for visa-free stay of foreign citizens on the territory of the country extends to citizens of Russia, as well as other countries that are part of the Eurasian Economic Union. This is stated in a special explanation. It was published in connection with the publications of a number of mass media, in which it was said that the new provisions announced on October 17 do not apply to Russians.

According to the amendments previously approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, the practice of the so-called “visaran” is abolished, which allowed foreigners who had expired the maximum permissible period of stay without a visa – 90 days – to leave the country and immediately return back, after which the 90-day period began to count again .

Now the terms of visa-free stay in Kyrgyzstan will be calculated according to the principle of 90 days within 180 days – that is, only three months can be spent in the country out of every six months. In this way, the total period of stay in the country cannot exceed six months within a year, and a visa will become impossible. The same practice has been introduced, for example, in the countries of the Schengen zone in relation to citizens of countries with the right to visa-free entry.

If a foreigner wants to live in Kyrgyzstan longer than the specified period, he must submit documents for obtaining a residence permit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that “the new changes reflect the desire of the cabinet to ensure more effective management of migration flows and improve the overall security of the country.”

On January 26, “vyzaran” was canceled by neighboring Kazakhstan.

As noted by Radio Azattyk, Kyrgyzstan is among the countries that became a place of transit or destination for Russians who left Russia after the start of the war on February 24 last year or the so-called partial mobilization in September of the same year. Until recently, Russians could stay in Kyrgyzstan and renew their stay by going abroad and immediately returning.
