In the Kursk region, the city of Zheleznogorosk, with a population of almost one hundred thousand people, remained without electricity and heat during the repair of a substation damaged by an airstrike. This was reported by the head of the region, Roman Starovoyt.

According to the official, restoration work should be completed “within two hours”. Earlier, Starovoit claimed that due to the “air attack from the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, several settlements were left without electricity. No injuries were reported as a result of the attack on the substation.

Telegram channel “Ostrozhno, novosti”, referring to the words of local residents, reports that in some parts of Zheleznogorsk, shops, gas stations and ATMs have stopped working. There are problems with mobile communication. One of the employees of the machine-building plant “Vagonmash” in a conversation with the Telegram channel said that the company stopped working, and all the workers were sent home. “People are in a panic. Water is sold out in stores. And almost all stores are closed. There is a huge queue at the gas station,” “Ostorozhno, novosti” quotes one of the city’s residents.

Earlier on January 3, it was reported about an attack on Belgorod. The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, and the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported on the shooting down of rockets fired in the direction of the city.

  • On December 30, the center of Belgorod was shelled – it was the largest shelling of the city during the entire war between Russia and Ukraine. As a result, according to the latest data, 25 people died – on January 1, it became known about the death of a 4-year-old girl in the hospital. More than 100 people were injured. The Ukrainian military did not officially comment on the shelling, like other shellings on Russian territory.
