The court again extended the forced treatment of the Yakut shaman Gabyshev

The court extended the forced treatment of shaman Alexander Gabyshev in a special mental hospital until the middle of June. This is reported by Sibir.Realii with reference to the lawyer Alexei Pryanishnikov.

The defense asked for a forensic psychiatric examination at the Serbian Research Institute in Moscow. “We believe that the medical commissions of the Ussuri psychiatric hospital, when justifying the need to extend the treatment, make abstract conclusions about Gabyshev’s public danger. At the same time, they point out that Gabyshev has shown no aggression toward others or himself,” Pryanishnikov said.

The court refused to carry out the examination. At the same time, the guardianship representative agreed to conduct one more study.

At the beginning of October last year, the Ussuriysk district court already extended the compulsory treatment of the shaman Alexander Gabyshev in a special psychiatric hospital in Ussuriysk.

  • In the spring of 2019, Alexander Gabyshev and his associates went from Yakutsk on a trip to Moscow to conduct the “rite of expulsion of Putin”. Shaman was detained a few weeks later on the border of Buryatia and Irkutsk region.
  • In October 2021, the Yakutsk City Court placed Gabyshev on compulsory treatment at the Novosibirsk Psychiatric Hospital. He was accused of violence against law enforcement officers and extremism. Later, the shaman was transferred to the Ussuriysk psychiatric hospital.
  • Residents of Siberia and the Far East still hold pickets and other actions in support of Gabyshev. In 2021, the “Memorial” human rights center included the shaman in the lists of political prisoners.
