The court in Vladimir dismissed Navalny’s claim against IK-6

The Vladimir Regional Court rejected the claim of opposition leader Alexei Navalny for illegal censorship of the leadership of IK-6, in which he was previously detained. This was reported by the Telegram channel SOTAvision.

The lawsuit was filed by Navalny’s former lawyer, Vadym Kobzev, who was arrested in mid-October 2023 on charges of participating in an extremist community.

In the lawsuit, Navalny claimed that his interaction with the defenders was censored in the colony. In particular, it was indicated that from September 2022, the documents that the politician and his lawyers handed over to each other were reviewed by FSIN employees and filmed. This contradicts the law on attorney confidentiality. Navalny also could not talk confidentially with lawyers in the meeting room because of the obstacles installed there in the form of an iron grid with plexiglass and a bricked-up slot for transferring papers. The politician claims that the colony’s employees “seized and stole documents they didn’t like.”

The representative of IK-6 denied Navalny’s accusations in court. He explained the presence of plexiglass in the room for meetings with lawyers as protection against the coronavirus.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Russia rejected two claims of an opposition politician, which are related to the conditions of detention in a correctional colony.

• Now Navalny is in colony No. 3 “Polar Wolf” in the village of Harp, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. This is a colony of a special regime – in it, prisoners are kept in harsher conditions.
• In August 2023, Navalny was sentenced to 19 years of imprisonment in a special regime colony on charges of extremist activity. The oppositionist considers himself innocent, and the sentence is politically motivated. Human rights organizations recognized him as a political prisoner.
