The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of Alexei Moskalyov

The Tula Regional Court upheld the sentence of Alexei Moskalyov, a single father, who was sentenced to two years in prison under the article on the so-called discrediting of the army. In addition, the court added to the sentence a two-year ban on Moskalyov “to administer Internet resources”, that is, to actually use the Internet. The meeting was broadcast live by Mediazona.

At the court, Moskalyov read a letter from his 13-year-old daughter Masha, in which the girl writes how she loves her father and misses him. He asked the court to sentence him “to the highest degree of punishment and to execute him as soon as possible”, since separation from his daughter is unbearable for him.

Moskalyov’s lawyer, Vladimir Bilyenko, demanded an acquittal from the court. In his complaint, he reminded that the prosecution did not prove that the defendant himself wrote the anti-war posts on social networks imputed to him. After the trial, he said that the sentence of his client will be appealed in the cassation instance.

According to his results, Masha’s father, Alexei Moskalev, was sentenced to two years in prison on the article about repeatedly discrediting the Russian army due to several anti-war posts on his behalf in the Odnoklassniki social network.
• Masha, whom Moskalev raised alone, was first sent to an orphanage, and then given to her mother, who had not lived with her family for many years and was not involved in raising the girl.
