The Ust-Labinsk District Court of the Krasnodar Territory decided to collect 20 million rubles from businessman Oleg Tynkov in favor of entrepreneur Oleg Deripaska in the case of protection of honor and dignity. Earlier, Tynkov called Deripaska an “oligarch and a thief” on Instagram.
In his post, published in April 2022, Tynkov called on Western countries to be more selective in imposing sanctions on Russian businessmen in order to promote an early end to the war in Ukraine. In a comment to the post, one of the users compared Tynkov with Deripaska and emphasized the closeness of both to the Kremlin. To this, Tynkov replied that Deripaska is an “oligarch and a thief”, and he himself is an honest entrepreneur.
Deripaska filed a lawsuit against Tynkov and Meta, the owner of the Instagram social network. He demanded from Tynkov compensation for moral damage in the amount of two billion rubles. He also requested that Meta remove the self-defaming post.
The court found Tinkov’s statement untrue. In addition to paying compensation, he will be required to publish a rebuttal on his Instagram.
Deripaska intends to donate the money to charity.
- Earlier, Oleg Deripaska filed lawsuits for the protection of honor and dignity against the head of the “Sitting Russia” foundation Olga Romanova and the founder of The Bell Elizaveta Osetynskaya, as well as against Maria Pevchykh, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Foundation.
