The Crimean court sentenced the former Ukrainian captain to 8.5 years

The Dzhankoy district court in the Russian-annexed Crimea sentenced the former captain of the Ukrainian Navy, Alexei Kiselyov, to eight and a half years in a strict regime colony. Ego was accused of participating in an illegal armed formation. Earlier, Kiselyov reported that he was asked during the investigation.

As the “Grata” publication reported from the courtroom, Kiselyov denied all the charges.

Aleksey Kiselyov was the captain of the ship “Slavutych” of the naval forces of Ukraine, now he is a military pensioner. After the annexation of Crimea, he moved to Henichesk, Kherson region of Ukraine, which was under the control of the Russian armed forces last year. Last July, he was detained by Russian law enforcement officers and taken to Simferopol.

According to the Russian special services, in May 2016, Alexey Kiselyov joined the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion named after Noman Chelebydzhikhan, acting on the side of Ukraine. The authorities of the Russian Federation recognized the battalion as a terrorist organization.

Kiselyov was accused of supplying products to other members of the battalion and preparing them for the naval blockade of the Crimean Peninsula. He denied the charges.

Kiselyov told lawyer Alexei Ladin that after his detention both in Henichesk and later in Simferopol, he was beaten, electrocuted, dislocated several joints and had his teeth broken. He claims that he knows nothing about the weapons, participants and goals of the volunteer detachment, although he was once intimately familiar with its creator, businessman Lenur Islyamov. Islyamov also confirmed to the publication “Grata” that Kiselyov is not related to his detachment.
