From the beginning of the next academic year, all schools in Russia will have advisers to directors on education. This was reported by the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov. Previously, the position of education advisor was introduced in ten Russian regions as an experiment. Kravtsov also offered to conduct “Conversations about important” lessons not only for schoolchildren, but also for their parents.
The position of adviser to the director on education and interaction with children’s public associations was first approved in schools of 10 regions of Russia in March 2021. From this September, it will become mandatory in every school. The minister clarified that the education counselors will receive a federal salary supplement of 15 thousand rubles.
The task of educational advisors is described as “informational and pedagogical work with students and teaching staff” and assistance in involving children in children’s and youth public organizations.
Kravtsov considers it expedient to conduct “Conversations about important” lessons, which actually replaced the Soviet practice of political information in schools, not only for children, but also for parents. “The right idea is to tell parents, including issues related to education, and the achievements of our country. I think it would be interesting for parents,” the minister said.
In addition, Kravtsov spoke about the course on “single educational space” in schools. In September 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the introduction of unified general education programs in Russian schools in six subjects: Russian language, literature, the environment, geography, history and the basics of life safety. Kravtsov promised to develop similar unified programs for other subjects. He paid particular attention to the need to create a single history textbook for all schools.
