The Diet of Latvia: Support for Ukraine’s entry into the EU is important in the context of war

The Seimas of Latvia without reservations accepted the statement calling for the start of negotiations to be maintained. They are about the accession of the Ukrainian and Moldavian states to the European Union, reported “Vechernye Vesty” with reference to the press service of the Latvian Sejm.
The Diet of Latvia held a meeting during which the topical issue of Ukraine and Moldova’s accession to the EU was raised. Politicians unanimously voted to support these countries in the process.
They also reminded about the importance of reminding of the necessity of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Equally important is the support of societies that defend their freedom, democracy and the supremacy of human rights. Ukraine and Moldova fall under these categories.
“Despite the fact that now there is a bloody war in Ukraine, it is necessary to support it. Joining the European Union can also help end the war,” the Seimas said.
NATO has already softened the accession procedure.
