The educational project “Kruzhok”, which conducted schools and educational programs for teenagers in Russian regions, announced its closure.
“We could not find the resources we needed for long-term and independent development without making unpleasant compromises. We did not see a way to engage in real scaling of the project in the regions, adhering to the values that are important to us and views on what is happening to the life of people and the country – the life of culture , social, economic and moral. We did not find an opportunity to develop the project without creating risks for the egos of the participants,” says the statement on the Kruzhka Facebook page.
In the spring of last year, the project suspended its activities, however, after a few months, the organizers of “Kruzhka” changed the work format and continued to conduct schools and educational programs in the regions.
“Uncertainty, the constantly changing Russian reality, the instability of independent support and the constant feeling that there is a ceiling to any development – all this has led to the exhaustion of forces, instability, the impossibility of continuing. This is a complex decision, in a sense tortured,” the message says “Mug”.
The project existed for five years, during which time the Kruzhka team conducted 27 schools in 15 regions of Russia. As stated on the project website, more than 400 teenagers took part in the schools. As part of the “Kruzhka” schools, children from the villages filmed documentaries, held cultural festivals and online conferences, and met professionals from different regions.
In March 2021, journalist Yury Dud published a documentary on his YouTube channel about how the Circle was created and works.
