The EU and the G7 introduce a price ceiling for Russian oil products.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, reported this, writes “European Truth”.

She notedthat the EU ban on the import of Russian oil products will come into force on Sunday.

“Together with the Big Seven, we set the maximum prices for these products, reducing Russia’s income and ensuring the stability of global energy markets,” she noted.

Earlier on Friday, the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU reported that the permanent representatives of the EU countries agreed on a price ceiling for Russian oil products.

“The EU ambassadors today approved the limit prices for oil products before the final approval by the Council of the EU. The agreement is important as part of the further response of the EU and partners to Russian aggression against Ukraine”, – it is said in a message from the presidency on Twitter.

Rikard Jozwick, Radio Liberty’s Europe editor clarifiedthat the EU countries agreed on a price ceiling of $100 for Russian diesel and $45 for various oils.

Also, according to his information, the member states gave a written commitment to revise the limit price for Russian crude oil in March. Now the price is $60.

On December 5, the decision of the EU Council on price limit for Russian oil and the ban on sea transportation of Russian oil to third countries, after which Russia’s income from the sale of oil began to fall.
