The European Union extended economic sanctions against the Russian Federation

The European Council adopted a decision to extend for six months, until July 31, 2023, restrictive measures in certain sectors of the Russian economy due to military aggression against Ukraine. This is reported on the website of the European Council.

“These sanctions were first introduced in 2014 in response to Russia’s actions destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. They were significantly expanded from February 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion,” the message says.
Currently, the sanctions consist of a wide range of sectoral measures, including restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.

They also include a ban on the import or transfer of marine crude oil and certain petroleum products from Russia to the EU, the disconnection of several Russian banks from SWIFT, as well as the suspension of broadcasts and licenses of several Kremlin-supported disinformation channels.
