The Prosecutor General’s Office submitted to the court an indictment against the former chairman of the board of one of the Ukrainian banks. He is accused of complicity in the withdrawal of UAH 477 million from the bank, the press service of the Office reported.

What is known

“The accused, together with the chairman of the supervisory board and his deputy, during 2014 contributed to the embezzlement of the bank’s property on a large scale. They processed and issued loans to fictitious legal entities in the amount of UAH 477 million, which were not repaid,” the message says.

The indictments against the former chairman of the supervisory board and his deputy are already under consideration in court.

As the League writes, the Prosecutor General’s Office does not name the name of the bank or the name of the suspect, however, the circumstances of the case point to the bank “Standard”, which was closed in early 2015.

According to the Deposit Guarantee Fund, in 2013-2015, its owners and officials illegally issued UAH 903.8 million in loans to controlled fictitious companies. After that, the money was converted into cash, withdrawn from bank cash registers and used to pay for fictitious currency contracts.

After the bank’s bankruptcy, it turned out that it had only UAH 41 million in assets, although on paper they exceeded UAH 892 million.

On July 21, 2022, the Main Investigative Department of the National Police informed the former Chairman of the Board of the Standard Bank that he was suspected of complicity in the embezzlement of UAH 476.76 million.

From July 2012 to October 2014, this position was held by Nikolay Myroshnyk, at the time of the bank’s bankruptcy, he was a member of the bank’s supervisory board.
