The ex-journalist of the First Channel was released from the basement near Luhansk

Ilya Andreev, a former correspondent of the First Russian Channel, now a military man, was released from the basement for “recusants” in the Luhansk region, he contacted his wife. Andreev’s wife Yana reported this to “New newspaper – Europe”. According to her, he called from someone else’s phone, and “the situation did not end completely,” but “the most important thing – the release from the basement – happened.”

Earlier it was reported that Andreev was put in a basement in the village of Zaytsevo together with other servicemen who were guilty in the opinion of the command. There was no contact with him for five days. Officially, the existence of this basement has not been recognized, although it was reported last year that they keep “recusants” there, sometimes subjecting them to torture.

According to his wife, Andreev himself was previously put in a pit for violators and tied to a tree. He was put in the basement after he tried to leave the occupied territory of Ukraine – it was claimed that the command agreed to leave for him, but the superiors at the front thought otherwise.

  • 42-year-old Andreev resigned from Russian television in April 2022 after a business trip near Chernihiv. He did not publicly announce the reasons for his decision, however, as “Novaya gazeta Evropa” previously wrote, he justified it by not wanting to participate in propaganda.
  • Andreev’s acquaintance Maksym Fedorov wrote that the reporter was “released with a black label” from Channel One and he could not find a job. The fact that Andreev had financial difficulties also follows from the correspondence published by journalist Roman Super. According to Andreev’s Telegram channel, he worked as a courier for some time. His wife told “Astra” that the journalist signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense on September 1, 2023, as he was “promised that he would serve in Moscow.” However, Andreev was immediately sent to the war in Ukraine.
