The families of the fallen fighters of PMC “Wagner” are paid five million rubles in cash as “burials”, as well as 100 thousand rubles for funerals. This is reported by the publication “People of Baikal”.
According to them, the curator transfers the money, as a rule, in a hotel room or other non-public place. When meeting, he calls only the name. Lyudmila Gilyazova from the village of Jida in Buryatia received five million rubles for her son who died in Ukraine, as well as 100 thousand for his funeral from a representative of PMC “Wagner” named Zhenya. The meeting took place in a “small office” in an unknown Hylyazova building in Irkutsk. Previously, she twice received her son’s salary at the Buryatia hotel in Ulan-Ude. Gyliazova’s son Rasim Igumnov died on December 31.
Ksenia Durneva from the village of Ulyatui in Transbaikalia went to Chita to receive 142,000 as her brother’s salary. In April, a curator from PMC “Wagner” named Sergey promised Durneva that she would receive the “grave” in a month and a half in Novosibirsk. Kristina Chertovskikh from Irkutsk received 100,000 rubles in Novosibirsk for the burial of her brother, she did not name the amount of compensation for the deceased relative.
The journalists of “People of Baikal” discovered at the Aleksandrovsky cemetery near Irkutsk at least 57 graves of PMC “Wagner” fighters, most of which had not been publicly reported before. Among the mercenaries buried at this cemetery, 20 were born or lived in the Irkutsk Region, 17 in Transbaikalia, and 11 in Buryatia. Only five of the 57 victims were reported by the authorities or their relatives on social networks.
43 of the dead were prisoners. 17 of them were convicted on murder charges, the rest on theft and drug charges. It was not possible to confirm the conviction of ten editions.
The journalists contacted the relatives of the dead mercenaries. Several families did not know that their relatives died in the war.
Another previously unknown burial at the Aleksandrovsky cemetery consists of 13 graves, ten of which are buried residents of the Irkutsk region. Among the dead are three volunteers, one contractor and two mobilized. Including from the regiment, whose soldiers repeatedly complained to Putin that the commanders sent them to storm fortified positions without preparation.
