The first coordinated rally in three years was held in Novosibirsk

In Novosibirsk, on the outskirts of the city, in the area of ​​Severny airport, a rally was held on Saturday against the increase in tariffs for communal services, which occurred in December last year. About 300 residents took part in the action, the correspondent of Sibir.Realii from the place of events reported. The rally became the first mass coordinated event in three years – previously all applications were rejected due to restrictions introduced in connection with the pandemic.

The organizer of the meeting was Anton Kartavyn, an independent member of the State Council. Initially, he asked to provide a site in the city center, but he was refused on the pretext that a second event was planned there. Earlier, Kartavyn applied to the prosecutor’s office, but they refused to conduct an investigation into the legality of the tariff increase.

The participants of the action said that the new utility tariffs make people poorer, salaries do not grow, and pensions were increased by 4%, while tariffs in the region increased from 9 to 12 percent. Independent deputy of the city council Svetlana Kaverzyna drew attention to the fact that residents do not know what motivated the decision made by the governor, how these tariffs were calculated and what the money will be spent on. Vladimir Stepanov, a 98-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War, also spoke at the rally.

At the end of the rally, the participants signed a letter addressed to the governor, in which they demanded to cancel the promotion.

• Governor Andrey Travnikov approved marginal tariffs for housing and communal services effective from December 1 and throughout 2023. The increase in the cost of services in different settlements was from 9% to 12.3%. In Novosibirsk, the tariff has increased by 11%.
